11C 13N 18F/F2 Synthesis Unit

 

Preface

This synthesis unit is base module and can be equipped with synthesis tray for various 11C, 13N 15O and 18F chemicals. This unit can be connected with separation unit and concentration unit.

  • Synthesis base module:
 

This unit has capability of repeat production of 11C, 13N 18F, 15O compounded radio-tracers in short time in order to handle the short half life nuclide. The unit is completed to meet the repeat synthesis requirement by changing trays which will be placed on top of the unit. Each tray can be changed easily and quickly so that the same or the other compounds can be produced without wasting time.

Three types of tray are prepared for production of such chemicals. Type-A is used for the compounds which is produced by Grignard reaction such as acetate. Type-B is used for the general methylation compounds such as methionine and methyl-spiperon. Type-C is used for purifying 13NH3 which is produced by the in-target method inside 13NH3 target system at cyclotron Type-D is used for 18F chemicals.

Type-A: Exchangeable Tray for Acetate
Type-B: Exchangeable Tray for general Methylation compounds
Type-C: Exchangeable Tray for 13NH3
Type-D Exchangeable Tray for 18F compounds

  • Separation unit
 

This unit is commercially available HPLC consists of pump, UV and Radio detector to obtain the product free from precursor and other impurities.
(Columns should be switched manually)

  • Concentration unit
 

This unit is used to remove the solvent from HPLC solution and to obtain the product in a saline solution.

  • CO2  trapping module
 

This unit is used with Acetate tray to trap 11CO2 for synthesis of acetate.
